These toy cubes have been with me since I was six years old. I buy some more every time I find them on flee markets.
The constructions I make with them are a leisurely break between my drawings and other projects. At the same time, they were the foundation for my Cubicles project and help me explore new shapes. They are quite literally, a work under construction.
One of my drawings, 'Without title' No.46 was selected for the Ronse Drawing Prize (Grote prijs Tekenkunst).
The exhibition can be visited from 22/12/2013 to 19/01/2014, at Cultuurcentrum De Ververij in Ronse.
I participated in a group exhibition from 28/11/2013 to 8/12/2013, showing 5 works.
'Without title' No.48, 'Without title' No.49, 'Without title' No.50, 'Without title' No.51 and 'Without title' No.52.
All lines are hand-drawn with a pen or thin brush. Nothing has been decided in advance or pre-drawn in pencil. Each line is the first and final one.
I recently got these pictures, sent in by a collector in Milan who owns 'Without title' No.45 and had it framed in a nice natural Lombardy-oak wooden frame.
For my participations in the 'Kotroute' in Ghent, the organisers wanted me to show work at the museum of contemporary art (SMAK), the starting location for the event.
I proposed a 'ceiling drawing' which wasn't accepted for technical reasons.
Eventually I projected drawings on the double height wall behind the reception and showed drawing 'Without title' No.36.
Now to find a ceiling I CAN draw on...

At the opening reception, I made a live window drawing that was kept for the length of the exhibition.
For the Tumult FM Art festival in Ghent I made a gallery window my studio for one night. People could see me working from 6pm till 11pm.
The work resulted in drawing 'Without title' No.49.
For the first DIY days in Ghent, I made a construction performance with the Cubicles, inviting members from the audience to help. The result was a 7 meter high tower, stacked without any attributes or attachments. This event took place at STAM.
