Incision III (bulwark)

Incision III (bulwark)

6 tons of grass and soil

(Site-specific installation, Ypres, 2018)

The work consists of two hollow towers of dirt and grass, each carefully wrapped around two trees. The trees are opposing each other (200meters) on the Vauban bulwark of Ypres, Belgium.

The resources used for making both towers were mined on a field located outside the stronghold walls one story lower.

After the installation, both towers were removed, leaving behind the outlines of the intervention on the field below.

In cooperation with Marge Projecten Architects.
