We approached a joint invitation to CC Lokeren‘s biennial show in Park ter Beuken as an opportunity to learn from each other, and took as a starting point our shared desire to work with local resources.
As we heard that 300 graves in the public cemetery were to be demolished because of their concessions expiring, we asked the city to set aside around 10 tonnes of Belgian bluestone for us.
We assembled the gravestones like pieces of a puzzle into a monumental object - an abstract, „circular“ form emerging from the ground at the centre of the park and inviting the public for interaction.
